For young people ages 13-18
The Mental Health Association in Tompkins County is excited to announce that we will be offering a spring session of Youth Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) in-person at our new space in Center Ithaca! Youth WRAP® is a program for teens in our community who are working on their recovery from mental health challenges, following the Wellness Recovery Action Plan® model created by Mary Ellen Copeland. This group is a peer-support based program that works on developing tools for wellness, self-awareness, creating plans to manage symptoms, triggers, and crises with an emphasis on hope and recovery. Please share the information below with all who may be interested. Thank you!
What is WRAP® (Wellness Recovery Action Plan)?
· WRAP is a plan that YOU create to support your mental health journey, stay well, and prevent crisis situations
· WRAP helps you to figure out what you need to do every day to stay well, learn your triggers, recognize when things are going downhill, and develop safe, simple tools to help yourself through difficult times
· WRAP is delivered through a peer group workshop model, led by trained peer facilitators who have developed their own WRAP plans and live WRAP every day
· WRAP is not a replacement for other mental health treatments, but is a tool that puts YOU in the driver’s seat of your wellness and recovery, because YOU have the power to get well and stay well!
Youth WRAP for Spring of 2021 will take place on Tuesday evenings at the Mental Health Association in Tompkins County from 4:15pm-5:45pm over the course of 10 weekly sessions, beginning on March 23rd. Meetings will take place in person with COVID-19 screening each session, social distancing, and all necessary precautions in place. WRAP will be a closed group, sign-up in advance is required.
